radiating
hovering
resonating light
above
a
cold
dark
splatter of earth

two opposites
existing in tandem
a balancing act
existing in
the abstract space
of time
hanging forever
in that moment
together
and
apart

Response to Nobuo Sekine's "Phase of Nothingness - Water"

we are one and the same
seemingly solid
but penetrable

trying quietly to portray
the same strong, dense structure
but merely a sturdy shell
filled with water

filled to the brim
not quite overflowing
our surfaces mirror and react to
the world around us

vulnerable to the movements of others
our waters ripple with the slightest
breath or motion

though our forms differ
we are able to contain the same volume
and we stand side by side
an unlikely pair
